Scheme Initiator Training
This two-day course for individuals who will be taking a lead role in developing a Paths to Health scheme.
The aim of the course is to highlight the essential elements of a successful Paths to Health scheme and provide delegates with background information to support their work in developing local schemes.
The course covers:
- The relationship between walking, physical activity and health.
- Planning, developing and implementing a local scheme
- Marketing & promoting
- Working with volunteers and the local community
By the end of the course the delegates will:
- increase their understanding of the national policy relating to Paths to Health
- be aware of the different statutory and voluntary organisations who could be involved in the delivery of local schemes
- gain an understanding of the relationship between walking, physical activity and health
- develop insights into working in partnership with other professionals and with the local community
- gain an understanding of the stages involved in managing a Paths to Health scheme from planning to evaluation
- have the opportunity to share experiences informally with other professionals
