Step Out for Stroke

The Stroke Association in Scotland is marking Stroke Awareness Day with Step Out for Stroke.

Step Out for Stroke aims to increase awareness of stroke, encourage people to walk and to get involved with exercise as a way to reduce their risk of stroke.  It is also a sponsored walk to encourage people to raise funds to assist The Stroke Association continue its valuable work in Scotland.

There are two ways to get involved:

1.      organise your own event

  • If you fancy a walk with friends or some fun with the family, why not find out what’s taking place in your area, get fitter and help The Stroke Association at the same time.
  • The Stroke Association can help with event materials and will support you all the way. Please contact Karen McKendrick for further information and to get you started.  Call (0131) 555 7245 or email karen.mckendrick@stroke.org.uk

2.      Take part in a walk in Edinburgh on Sunday 16th May, 2010

  • We will be walking along the beautiful Water of Leith Walkway, from Balerno High School to Leith, and the course is designed to incorporate different distances ensuring that everyone can take part.  Sections of the walkway are wheelchair friendly and there will be several ‘check-out’ points meaning walkers can do as little or as much as they choose.
Registration costs £5 and the Stroke Association asking participants to raise a minimum of £30 each.

If you would like more information or would like to register to take part please either call Karen McKendrick on (0131) 555 7245 or email karen.mckendrick@stroke.org.uk.
